Message from President PSSLD
On behalf of the Pakistan Society for the Study of Liver Diseases (PSSLD), it is with great pleasure that I extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to all of you for the 18th PSSLD Annual Meeting on December 14-15, 2024 at Movenpick Hotel Karachi. We are excited to host this prestigious event, and our anticipation is heightened by the overwhelming response from the national and international faculty participation as well as scores of enquiries from the eagerly awaiting physicians, gastroenterologists, liver surgeons and trainees from all over the country. As President PSSLD, I am deeply honored to be leading a dedicated and selfless team of Organizing and Scientific Committees, which has worked tirelessly to curate a program that is not only intellectually stimulating but also personally enriching. We aim to create an atmosphere that encourages dialogue, fosters connections, and promotes advancements in liver diseases research.
While we struggle to eliminate viral hepatitis by 2030, another challenge in the form of Hepato-cardio-metabolic syndrome is fast approaching. As responsible society, PSSLD is focusing on awareness, preparing the medical fraternity and educating the upcoming generation of physicians to tackle the new challenges. The theme of the 18th annual PSSLD meeting “Hepatology in the Era of Steatotic Liver Disease: Bridging Science and Practice” underscores its importance. These critical areas of hepatology have gained increasing attention in recent years, and our expert speakers will delve into the latest research, diagnostic challenges, and treatment approaches.

It is with immense pleasure that I invite you on behalf of the Scientific Committee to the 18th Annual Meeting of the Pakistan Society for the Study of Liver Diseases (PSSLD) to be held at Movenpick Karachi, Pakistan, from the 14th to 15th December 2024. The main theme of our meeting this year revolves around “steatotic liver disease”, a significant health problem which is fast becoming one of the leading causes of chronic liver disease globally.
