PSSLD Practice Guidelines

The Pakistan Society for the Study of Liver Diseases (PSSLD) develops practice guidelines to provide evidence-based recommendations and support healthcare professionals in the prevention, diagnosis, management, and treatment of liver diseases. These guidelines are designed to assist clinicians in making informed decisions while promoting high standards of patient care across Pakistan.

PSSLD guidelines are developed by multidisciplinary panels comprising hepatologists, gastroenterologists, infectious disease specialists, surgeons, researchers, and other relevant healthcare professionals. Recommendations are formulated through a comprehensive review of the latest scientific evidence, international best practices, and regional healthcare considerations to ensure their relevance and applicability within the Pakistani healthcare landscape.

PSSLD is committed to incorporating diverse expert perspectives and encourages collaboration among clinicians, researchers, and stakeholders throughout the guideline development process. As the field of hepatology continues to evolve, guidelines are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect emerging evidence, advances in treatment options, and changing clinical practices.
In addition to formal practice guidelines, PSSLD may publish expert consensus statements, position papers, and clinical guidance documents on topics where evidence may be limited but practical recommendations are needed to support patient care and clinical decision-making.

Furthermore, PSSLD promotes quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing liver disease management and patient outcomes. Through the development of clinical standards, educational resources, and performance measures, PSSLD strives to advance hepatology practice and support the delivery of high-quality liver care throughout Pakistan.
